Black bear beds are similar to deer or moose beds, but rounder, whereas deer beds tend to be more of an oblong or oval shape. Bears, like deer, may lay down in beds of long grass, but they often lie down beneath trees or even in large nests that they build in trees, within areas that they frequent. Bears often bed down near feeding sites so it's not uncommon to find them near garbage or baiting areas.
